"Torture Garden" & "The Living Dead"

This will finish up the last of Weird Vol. 4 No. 3, June 1970. Our first Story, "Torture Garden," is a bloodied up reprint of the story, which first appeared in Voodoo #13, 1954. It's a neat, little tale; clearly based on the 1924 short story classic, "The Most Dangerous Game," by Richard Connell (later made into a great film staring Joel McCrea and Fay Wray). About this hunting retreat, the index tells us: "Listen to the horrifying screams of dying men caught in the eerie rotting mass of oozing vegetation that seemed to laugh. Ugh!"

Our second tale, "The Living Dead," is a Walter Casadei redraw of "The Lost Souls," which was originally published in Chamber of Chills #24, 1951. This sort of bleak, atmospheric story was a particular strength of Casadei.

Don't stray too far from the Bloody Pulp. Next, we open up a new issue from my Eerie Publication vaults!
