Let's continue today with our exporation of Weird No. 12 Vol. 2, June 1979. First, we have the artwork of Eerie Pub. stalwart, Oscar Fraga."The Thing" is a Fraga redraw of "The Thing On the Broken Balcony" which first appeared in Strange Worlds No. 8, 1952.
Next up, we have a story by the artistic team of Nestor Olivera and Felix Saborido. If I was forced to guess, I'd say that this is Olivera's pencils. "A Tomb of Ice" is a redraw of "Death On Ice," which first appeared in Strange Fantasy No. 6, 1953.

let's see, haunted by the ghost of Rip Taylor or avalanched by Iron Maiden mascot Eddie, which do i choose?...
Prof.: Wow. Imagining Rip Taylor as the ghost certainly takes the scary punch out of it, doesn't it? Once seen, it can't be unseen.
Both great selections. That looks like some of Fraga's best work.
Hi, Guy. Nice to hear from you. Yes, Mr. Fraga strikes a beautiful Gothic tone with this one.
Guy: looking at your marvelous work and Fraga's; would it be fair to say that Mr. Fraga was an influence?
Mykal,
Ha! Yeah, I kind of combined Fraga and Ayers. Finally finished those last 2 pages and will be posting the first page of the 2nd installment of the series. It's great that you continue with your excellent blog
I'll just keep on keeping on.
"Tomb Of Ice" is a much better version than the original story from the Iger Studio.
The mountain/snow adventure is working just wonderful in black and white!
They added a page of climbing scenes, by the way.
Hats off to you for posting it.
Spacelord: Thanks for your steady commenting. Yes, sometimes Eerie Pub redraws out-do the originals!
I thought that "Tomb of Ice" was pure Olivera! Where'd you get the Saborido inks info? Me very interested.
Mike: I got the Saborido credit from the one and only source I use for Eerie Pub. material: The great The Weird World of Eerie Publications by one Mr. Mike Howlett! - page 310!! credit reads "Olivera;Saborido redraw" It looks like all Olivera to me, too, my friend; but I never argue with The Source! :)
Am I reading something wrong?
Hahaha! The Source! No, you're reading right... but you found a typo!! Wonder how that got in there!! Thank you Eagle Eye Mykal! Hopefully, if we get to a second print, we can fix that!
Mike: I knew, for certain, there was an explanation. The Source is never wrong! In Source I trust!
